The Rise of the Power Vegans

An article on veganism in a very unlikely news outlet: Business Week. It is about the rising number of CEO and other senior corporate executives that are adopting vegan and other meat-free diets. My favourite line is this:

And herein lies veganism’s appeal to moguls: It affords them the opportunity to control their own health with the same manic id with which they control everything else.

Its utter cynicism made me laugh. That’s not to say it is untrue. To me the derision with which it is stated is so much more cutting than your average anti-vegan rhetoric precisely because it probably is true. Veganism is self-fascism.
